Terms of Service
Version 0.1 · Last updated
Draft — pending counsel review
These terms are an agreement between you and Gastroque (“Gastroque”, “we”, “us”) about your use of the Gastroque website and app. By creating an account or using Gastroque you agree to them, to our Privacy Policy and to our Allergy & Food Safety page, which is part of these terms. Please read them — especially the sections on allergies and food safety.
1. Who can use Gastroque
- You must be 18 or older to create an account. Children can be diners in a household, but never account holders.
- Each household has one owner, who manages the plan, the subscription and who else can use it.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter — especially allergies, diets and medical needs — and for having permission to enter details about the other people at your table (or doing so as their parent or guardian).
2. Your account and co-cooks
Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. Owners can invite co-cooks to share the plan, grocery list and pantry, and can remove them at any time. You're responsible for the people you invite and for what happens in your household.
3. Plans, free trials and automatic renewal
Taster (Free) costs nothing and has no time limit. Plus and Pro — Chef's Table are paid subscriptions.
- Plus costs $12.99 a month or $99.00 a year; Pro — Chef's Table costs $24.99 a month or $199.00 a year, plus any applicable tax.
- Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial. Before you start one we show you, next to the button, the date we'll email you, the date the trial ends and the price you'll be charged after it — for example: “Free for 7 days, then $99.00/year plus tax until you cancel. Cancel anytime in Settings → Billing.”
- If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your plan starts and renews automatically at the end of each billing period (every month or every year) at the then-current price until you cancel. We announce any price increase at least 30 days in advance, with a link to cancel.
- Annual plans get a renewal reminder email 30 and 7 days before they renew.
- You can cancel online at any time in Settings → Billing; you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for.
Refunds. Trials are free — cancel before the trial ends and you're never charged. Annual plans can be refunded in full within 14 days of any annual charge (first year or renewal); your plan then moves to Taster right away. Monthly plans aren't refunded for partial months — you keep your plan until the end of the month you paid for — but if a renewal surprised you, contact us within 7 days and, if you haven't generated new recipes since, we'll refund it. Billing mistakes are always refunded. Where local law gives you more (for example the EU/UK 14-day withdrawal right), that applies.
Plan changes. Upgrades take effect immediately and you're charged the prorated difference; downgrades take effect at your next renewal. When a paid plan ends, your household moves to Taster: your recipes, ratings, favorites and history stay in your account.
Payments and taxes. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your full card number. Prices are shown in US dollars before tax; where sales tax or VAT applies, it's calculated at checkout.
4. AI-generated content
Menus, recipes, grocery lists, prep plans, nutrition figures and pairings are generated with artificial intelligence and automatic checks. They're provided “as is” and may contain errors — a wrong quantity, a missing step, an ingredient you can't find. Read each recipe before you cook it and use your judgement in the kitchen.
5. Allergies and food safety
Gastroque plans around the allergies and diets you tell us about and checks every recipe against them, but it cannot guarantee that a meal is safe for anyone with a food allergy. Our Allergy & Food Safety page is part of these terms. You are responsible for checking ingredient labels, for the cooking and handling of food in your kitchen, and for supervising anyone who cooks with you.
6. Not medical advice
Gastroque is a meal-planning tool, not a medical device. Medical diets, nutrition estimates and macro targets are guidance and estimates, not medical or dietary advice, and are not designed for clinically supervised diets. Follow the advice of your doctor, allergist or registered dietitian.
7. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- scrape, copy in bulk or extract recipes or data from Gastroque by automated means;
- try to get around plan limits, rate limits or safety checks, or manipulate the AI into unsafe output;
- probe or test our security outside our vulnerability disclosure policy;
- resell, sublicense or offer Gastroque to others as a service;
- use Gastroque to break the law or to harm anyone.
8. Your content and the Gastroque Library
Your notes, ratings and other content stay yours; you give us the licence we need to store and process them to run the service for you. You may cook, print and share the recipes Gastroque creates for your personal, non-commercial use.
We may publish anonymized versions of recipes to the public Gastroque Library — with names, ratings, comments and dates removed. You can opt your household out in Settings → Privacy (“Don't use our recipes for the Gastroque Library”).
9. Third-party services
Some features connect to services we don't run — grocery stores and delivery partners such as Instacart, payment processing by Stripe, and sign-in with Google or Apple. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them, and we aren't responsible for their products, prices or availability.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent the law allows, Gastroque is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of recipes or nutrition data, and uninterrupted availability. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about Gastroque is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that rule applies.
12. Disputes and governing law
If something goes wrong, please contact us first — most problems are solved quickly. The governing law and dispute-resolution terms will be confirmed here after legal review. Nothing in these terms takes away the protections you have under the consumer laws of the place you live.
13. Ending, changes and contact
You can stop using Gastroque and delete your account at any time in Settings → Privacy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in advance by email or in the app; the version and date at the top of this page always show which terms apply.
Questions about these terms: support@gastroque.com.
14. Trademarks
Gastroque™ and the toque-fork logo are trademarks of Gastroque. Gastroque is not affiliated with Michelin or the MICHELIN Guide. Other product names (for example Instant Pot®) are used only to describe compatible equipment and belong to their owners.
